NotesConjugating the conditional tense is rather simple; verbs in the conditional will actually use the same stem as they use in the futur simple. So, all you have to do is keep the infinitive stem and add the future-tense endings for regular -er and -ir verbs; for regular -re verbs, you simply drop the "e" and add the correct endings, which are exactly the same as the imparfait endings.
Steps:
tu-ais vous-iez
il/elle/on-ait ils/elles-aient
Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell the difference between the imparfait and the conditionnel, so it's important to note that verbs in the conditionnel will have a rr sound before the ending, whereas most verbs in the imparfait will not:
il mangeait
il mangerait
Steps:
- Find the infinitive/conditionnel stem of the action.
-er > manger
-ir > finir
-re > ** drop the -e ** attendr - Add the imparfait endings.
